Norderstedt data center is a Sustainable Data Center
AKQUINET's Norderstedt data center is the first data center ever to be awarded the "Sustainable Data Center" certificate by TÜV Rheinland. In the SDC standard, data centers are assessed according to a complex evaluation system.
The key topics of employees, IT, electrical engineering, air conditioning technology, energy, waste heat utilization, water, GHG emissions, quality and processes are considered and mapped using an index from A-G, with A being the highest level. AKQUINET's Norderstedt data center was awarded the certificate with index B at the first attempt. AKQUINET's data center in Norderstedt is part of a twin data center.
Network & Connection
AKQUINET’s Internet backbone has uplink connections to renowned providers (such as Deutsche Telekom, TeliaSonera, n@work Internet Informationssysteme).
Furthermore, AKQUINET is connected to the Internet exchange points (peering points) DE-CIX Hamburg, DE-CIX Frankfurt, and ECIX Hamburg. There is a connection to many different providers at these Internet exchange points. The customer’s line can be connected to our data center using a large number of carriers.

- Redundant (2N) cooling supply and distribution for IT services – up to 2 megawatts
- Redundant devices for cooling circulating air are installed in each system room as a “CoolWall”
- Up to 15kW air cooling per rack for services, optional additional water cooling available for direct rack cooling
